The European Metropolitan Region Munich (EMM) has nearly 400 companies and eight renowned research institutions, making it one of the leading locations in Europe for the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. Producing a turnover of 10.5 billion euros in 2008 and employing over 30,000 people in industry and research – two thirds of them in industry – this sector is making a major contribution to the economic power of the EMM. These are the findings of the study „Biotechnology and Pharmaceuticals in the European Metropolitan Region Munich in 2008“
